Job Purpose:

To support in strengthening the quality of programming through a robust MEAL mechanism based on quality & accountability standards, ensuring projects are meeting stated objectives and indicators, meeting of donor requirements, and institutionalization of learning of organizations programming.  

Job summary:

This position is expected to devise innovative strategies to strengthen program quality by ensuring strong  MEAL processes and tools, as well as the management and institutionalization of knowledge, learnings and best practices. It will require engaging with various teams across the organization that are managing a diverse range of projects on various thematic areas and using different programmatic approaches including humanitarian, development, advocacy and capacity enhancement. Thematic areas include Emergencies; WASH; Livelihoods; Education; Health etc. 

The job includes large amount of desk work and field work as well. The Coordinator - MEAL will have to develop a thorough knowledge of the thematic areas, projects and approaches in practice, so as to be familiar with organizations implementing strategies and so s/he can effectively support them.

Relevant Experience:

 Qualifications and Experience:

  • University level degree preferably Masters in humanitarian/development studies or in a relevant discipline
  • Experience on MEAL in diverse range of thematic areas and approaches i.e capacity building; development; humanitarian etc.
  • A minimum of 5 years work experience in humanitarian/development sector
  • Knowledge political, economic and social trends plus a good understanding of the key development and humanitarian issues in the region. 

Technical Competencies:

  • Skilled at designing tools and processes for monitoring and evaluation and analysing data
  • Ability to capture lessons learned and support in institutionalization of learnings
  • Excellent writing skills in English. 
  • Proactive in communication and information sharing
  • Familiar with standards like Sphere etc.
