  • Background
    • The purpose of this role is to ensure high-quality, contextually relevant implementation of global research initiatives across local contexts, while maintaining alignment with global technical standards and donor expectations. The incumbent will serve as both a technical and coordination resource, bridging global research design with local execution, and providing technical input to refine research tools, support data interpretation, and validate findings from a local perspective. The role will also ensure adherence to ethical research standards, IRB requirements, safeguarding principles, and data protection protocols, in line with INGO and donor compliance frameworks.

      Scope of Work
      Technical Input & Research Design Support
      • Assist in the development and refinement of research tools, methodologies, and approaches, including providing technical inputs as required
      • Assist in the development and customization of questionnaires, interview guides, and data collection instruments
      • Support the development, validation, and piloting of research tools, incorporating technical inputs
      where necessary
      • Ensure alignment with global research protocols while adapting to local context

      Local Contextualization
      • Ensure cultural, linguistic, and contextual appropriateness of all research tools and processes
      • Provide insights to strengthen the relevance and feasibility of research approaches in local contexts

      Stakeholder & Global Coordination
      • Liaise closely with global research teams and relevant stakeholders
      • Ensure consistency with study protocols, methodologies, and objectives
      • Provide regular updates on progress, risks, and mitigation measures

      Research Implementation & Coordination
      • Coordinate with external research agencies and field teams for data collection
      • Support and monitor the implementation of interviews, FGDs, surveys, etc.
      • Address operational challenges and ensure adherence to timelines and quality standards

      IRB & Ethical Compliance
      • Support the preparation and submission of IRB applications
      • Coordinate responses to IRB queries (Q&A) with global teams
      • Ensure compliance with ethical standards, including informed consent and participant protection

      Data Quality, Analysis & Validation
      • Assist in the development of, and support, data review, interpretation, and validation processes
      • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of collected data
      • Provide contextual insights to strengthen analysis and findings

      Reporting & Knowledge Products
      • Assist in the development of research outputs, including reports, briefs, and dissemination materials
      • Review draft reports and provide inputs for contextual accuracy and clarity
      • Support alignment of outputs with global standards and study objectives

      Compliance & Documentation
      • Ensure adherence to donor requirements and organizational policies
      • Maintain proper documentation for audit and compliance purposes
      • Uphold safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection standards

      Deliverables
      • Contextualized and technically refined research tools
      • Successful IRB submission and closure of queries
      • Coordinated and quality-assured data collection
      • Validated datasets and reviewed analysis
      • Contributions to research reports, briefs, and dissemination materials
      • Periodic progress updates and final assignment report

      Timeline
      3 – 6 months

    Requirements
    • • Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Development Studies, or a related field (a Bachelor’s degree with additional relevant experience may be considered)
      • Minimum 2–6 years of relevant research experience, preferably in the INGO/development sector
      • Strong experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research methodologies
      • Proven experience providing technical inputs in research design and analysis
      • Experience managing research agencies/field teams
      • Familiarity with IRB/ethical review processes
      • Experience working with international/global teams is an asset
